See report below on the status of The Aspirational Plan for The Hall from Chairman Jim Walton, and a request for volunteers to help with the final touches to the Playing Field this Sunday April 13th from 10pm
Message from Jim Walton, Hall Chairman:
‘Work on delivering the Aspirational Development Plan for the land behind the Hall and the Playing Field continues. With safety of the young ones in mind a picket boundary fence has been built around the playground equipment to keep any temptation to run onto the road at bay.
Further tidying of brambles has been carried out thanks to a few willing volunteers and most of the concrete posts and rotten timber fence has been removed to the former boundary between the Hall land and the Playing Field. Volunteers are needed this Sunday 13th, from 10am for an hour, to finish off with seeding the grass to the bare area. It is hoped that this will soon green up to give the intended appearance of a single community facility.
A planting scheme is to be put together for the autumn, however the most expensive parts of the development plan we hope to be able to commence soon after the Cherington & Stourton Show (1st Saturday in August, don’t forget). This will hopefully include additional car parking to the rear of the Hall and land drainage for both fields so that they are less waterlogged particularly in the winter. Fund raising will be necessary to achieve the objectives set out in the development plan, so donations will be gratefully received. More on this in due course.‘
Jim Walton
